Aluminum Composite Panel is a new decorative material used increasingly by developers, designers and architects world wide for various building and signage applications. The advantages of using ACM over conventional materials such as stone, tiles, and wood are related to its light weight, ease of fabrication and its versatility.

ACM panels consist of two aluminium skins bonded to a polyethylene or fire-retardant mineral core. This sandwich construction creates a panel that is extremely flat, lightweight, and rigid — ideal for large-format signage and architectural cladding where dimensional stability is critical.

Fabrication & Processing

ACM can be V-grooved and folded to create sharp, clean corners without the need for aluminium extrusions. It can also be CNC routed, saw cut, drilled, and riveted. For curved applications, ACM can be roll-formed to achieve consistent radii.

V-grooving — score the back to create precise 90° folds
CNC routing — cut complex sign shapes and lettering
Digital printing — accepts UV-cured and solvent inks directly
Vinyl wrapping — smooth surface ideal for applied graphics
Riveting and bonding — can be mechanically or adhesive fixed

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need PE core or FR core ACM?+
For general signage, displays, and interior applications, PE core is suitable and more cost-effective. For external building cladding — particularly on buildings over 2 storeys — fire-retardant (FR) core is required to comply with the Building Code of Australia (BCA/NCC).
Can ACM be used for outdoor signage?+
Yes. ACM is one of the best materials for outdoor signage due to its flatness, weather resistance, and paintability. The aluminium skins provide excellent UV resistance and the panels won't warp, rot, or delaminate in outdoor conditions.
How do I fold ACM panels?+
Use a V-groove router to score a channel along the back of the panel at the fold line. Remove material down to the front aluminium skin, then fold by hand to create a clean, sharp corner. This technique eliminates the need for corner extrusions.
