Aluminium Composite Panel (ACM) — also sold as Alucobond, Dibond, Reynobond and Alpolic — is a sandwich panel of two pre-painted aluminium skins thermally bonded to a polyethylene or fire-retardant mineral core. The result is a perfectly flat, rigid, lightweight sheet that has become the default material for shopfront signage, building facades, pylon signs and architectural cladding across the Gold Coast and South East Queensland.

Holland Plastics has stocked ACM since the material first arrived in Australia. We carry 3mm and 4mm sheets in jumbo and standard sizes, in PE and FR (fire-rated) cores, ready for same-day pickup at our Burleigh Heads workshop or cut, routed and V-grooved to your drawing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need PE core or FR core ACM?+
For general signage, displays, real-estate boards and interior applications, PE core is suitable and more cost-effective. For external building cladding — particularly on buildings over two storeys, or on schools, hospitals and public buildings — fire-retardant (FR) core is required to comply with the Building Code of Australia (BCA/NCC). If in doubt, call us with the building details and we'll confirm what's required.
Can ACM be used for outdoor signage?+
Yes. ACM is the most popular material for outdoor signage in Australia because of its flatness, weather resistance and paintability. The baked PVDF/polyester finish on the aluminium skins gives excellent UV resistance and the panels won't warp, rot, delaminate or rust in Gold Coast coastal conditions.
How do I fold ACM panels into a 3D sign or tray?+
Use a V-groove router to score a channel along the rear of the panel at the fold line. The cutter removes the back skin and core, leaving only the front aluminium and paint — fold by hand to create a clean, sharp 90° corner. We V-groove ACM in-house for sign trays, returns and pan-fabricated letters every day.
Can ACM be printed on directly?+
Yes. The painted surface accepts UV-cured flatbed inks, solvent and eco-solvent digital prints, screen printing and vinyl overlays. White and matt white are the best print substrates. Apply graphics within a few weeks of fabrication for best adhesion.
What size ACM sheets do you stock?+
We stock 3mm and 4mm in 2440 × 1220mm and 3050 × 1500mm. 4mm × 4050 × 1500mm (jumbo) is held for transport and large signage jobs. Larger custom panels can be sourced on indent.
