Which Material Is Best For Machine Guards?+

Polycarbonate is the standard for most machine guarding because it is virtually unbreakable, up to 250 times the impact resistance of acrylic. We use 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm sheet depending on the hazard, span and AS 4024 requirements. Acrylic is sometimes used for inspection windows and lower-impact guards where superior optical clarity matters.

Can You Replace A Damaged Guard From My Existing Machine?+

Yes, bring or freight us the broken panel (or send dimensions and a photo) and we will cut, drill and finish an exact replacement. We work with most major lathe, mill, CNC, press and conveyor brands and can replicate cut-outs for switches, hinges, handles and interlocks.

Do Your Guards Meet Australian Safety Standards?+

We fabricate guards to your specified thickness and design so they comply with AS 4024 (Safety of Machinery) and your site's risk assessment. We can also recommend appropriate polycarbonate grades and thicknesses based on the hazard, but final certification of the installed guard remains the responsibility of the machine owner or safety engineer.

How Should I Clean A Polycarbonate Guard?+

Use a soft cloth with warm soapy water or an approved polycarbonate-safe cleaner. Avoid solvents, petrol, brake cleaner and acetone, which attack polycarbonate and cause crazing. For oil and swarf residue use a dedicated polycarbonate cleaner or isopropyl alcohol in moderation.
